Explore, Learn, Grow at the New Braunfels Public Libraries
Libraries are books PLUS so much more. They teach critical literacy skills, provide spaces for public meetings and study rooms, programs, and classes. Open seven days a week, our libraries are the heart of our growing community.
The library is an active, engaging community center for every generation. It promotes literacy in multiple areas, including print digital, graphic, and financial.
By voting YES for Prop C on the 2023 Bond, you will be saying YES to a new Southeast Branch that will serve the fastest growing area in New Braunfels. Its proximity to 8 schools (6 public, 2 private) will make access to after-school programs convenient and the time-consuming drive to the Main Library unnecessary.
This exciting new library will be a pioneer in innovative STEAM programming (science, technology, engineering, arts, mathematics) designed to instill the love of learning in our youngest students and all youth. There will be more classrooms so that four programs can run concurrently. It will also have a technology/lab space to serve all age groups.
With the growth we are seeing in our community, our city now has less than 50% of the recommended library space for its population. The Main Library is bursting at the seams, with 500 to a 1,000 visitors a day. The 23,250 square foot Southeast Library Branch will provide much-needed spaces for neighborhood meetings, study rooms, classes, programs, concerts, after-school enrichment, book clubs, job search assistance, a community garden, computers, printers, and of course, a broad selection of books and digital resources.
This branch will also have 24/7 lobby access with hold pickups and WIFI.
Library services, programs, and classes are always FREE, and a new library WILL NOT increase your tax rate.
